Echoes of Our Ancestors for Robyn Schulkowsky
A major focus of Acoustic Atlas is to explore virtual acoustics of heritage spaces as compositional material.
This week, I worked with renouned percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky on creating sounds that combine live percussion with the virtual acoustics of the caves I recorded. The project has many challenges, especially when wanting to create a sound hologram that people can experience in a live performative situation. We researched various sounds, timbres, echoes as well as infrasound to add vibration and low end to the sound.
